About me
I'm a director with the BBC's "The One Show", and I'm making a film about domestic CCTV cameras. I've been looking for someone who has installed the cameras in their home and has actually caught someone on the cameras committing a crime. Did someone steal from a house and were caught on camera? Were they caught thanks to the footage, or are they still at large? It would be good to talk to the people who installed the CCTV cameras about their experience of using them and whether they think it was effective.
The request
Essentially, I would like to talk to people who have used domestic CCTV cameras and have actually caught a crime taking place with those cameras. I understand that it would be inappropriate for you to give me the details of people who have been affected by a crime like this, but if you could forward my email on to those people then they can contact me if they wish. Initially, I'd like to chat to them over the phone with a view to potentially interviewing them on camera about their case. I'm based in Cardiff, but am happy to film anywhere in the country.
I'd need to be able to see the CCTV footage to evaluate the case, and it would be with a view to using the footage in the film. I'd also want to interview the people who were the victims so that they could a) tell me the story about what happened, and b) reflected on how useful the CCTV cameras have been. For various reasons, this film needs to be about people who have cameras installed in their home - a place of work or commercial property isn't what I'm looking for; this film is about everyday people trying to protect their home.
Deadline
In terms of time scale, in an ideal world I would be filming an interview with people within the next 2 weeks. I realise that this is quite a short timescale, so I'd really appreciate it if you could forward this on to anyone that you think can help as soon as possible. If that timescale isn't achievable, then it's not the end of the world! But it would be nice to film this sooner rather than later.
I hope that this is clear - anyone should feel free to contact me by email or on the number below at any time if you have any questions, or think you can help. Many thanks in advance for any time and help you may be able to give.
