BARTON IN FABIS- Theft from vehicles

Alert message sent 11/02/2012 07:52:00
Information sent on behalf of Nottinghamshire Police

Message sent on behalf of PCSO David Wesson

There have been two theft from vans overnight between Thursday 9th and Friday 10th February 2012 in Barton in Fabis.

It is often not possible to garage vans overnight because they may be too large to go in the garage or the family car may get higher priority than a works van.

The next safest place after a secure garage is off the road behind closed, preferably locked gates.

If this is not possible we would advise anyone parking a van overnight to remove any valuable items such as copper piping or cable, other metal objects and power tools. Blanking out any window where there is a view into the rear compartment may also be helpful.

You may be able to get stickers to declare that no items of value are left in the vehicle overnight.

If you become aware of any suspicious activity around a neighbour's van please contact the Police. If you have cause to believe that a crime is in progress or may just have been committed please use 999.
